You see, Rockers have a lot to say about how incredibly brilliant, talented, and caring their advisors and professors are. They’ll go on at length, because of the lengths professors here go for their students.

 

 

You’ll call your professors by their first names, you’ll meet for coffee and run into them in town or at the dining hall, or at a concert. You’ll come to think of them — and they’ll think of you — as especially bright and interesting colleagues.

“I would definitely say that professor-student relationships are a lot closer just because of the size,” says Raspberry ’08. “I mean there are only about 400 of us. So it makes these relationships easier to develop. You could start with just a topic in class. You come to the professor, ‘you know, I’m really interested in this’ and then you start talking. It’s really easy. You’re just having a conversation…Our professors don’t just teach fascinating classes; they advise, collaborate, counsel, nurture, and mentor. They’re practicing experts in their fields, which means they’re doing the work, too, not just assigning it. They’re committed to excellent teaching, and they’re absolutely dedicated to their students.”
