With the belief that every situation offers an opportunity for learning, we create spaces where every voice can be heard: in community meetings, social justice workshops, in the Council for Inclusive Community (CIC) committee meetings, as well as in our classrooms, where critical engagement with ideas informs our conscientious engagement with the world.
In collaboration with the Dean of Equity and Inclusion, the Council for Inclusive Community serves as a programmatic, professional development, training, and support resource to our campus community.
The Council is committed to providing workshops and events within our community that will address a variety of social issues, including — but not limited to — social movements and solidarity with social change organizations, race and cultural sensitivity, LGBTQIA2S+ resources and programming, anti-racism and social justice, and specialized and intimate conversations unique to challenges we may be facing within our own campus community.
The Council for Inclusive Community offers community meetings monthly, CIC Chats on various topics throughout the year, and programming each semester.
The Bias Response Team (BRT) is a campus resource designed to help provide support for any individuals and groups on campus who have been impacted by bias incidents and to promote cultural competency education and training on campus. The BRT is a group of staff and faculty that creates a space for any Simon’s Rock community member who may have experienced bias to share their viewpoint and concerns. The BRT addresses bias through community engagement and education and enables Simon’s Rock to track bias incidents, collect aggregate data, identify educational responses, and connect individuals affected by bias incidents with supportive resources. The BRT is also available to answer questions about bias and discrimination.
The Title IX Office is dedicated to preventing, responding to, and remedying occurrences of harassment, discrimination and sexual misconduct at Bard College at Simon’s Rock and Bard Academy. The Title IX Office provides accessible, prompt, thorough, and impartial methods of investigation and resolution in response to formal complaints alleging violations of our Title IX and Equity Policies.
The main goal of the Wellness Center is to address the needs of students with diverse identities and backgrounds within a confidential setting. Our nurses and physicians are available to meet with students individually to discuss health care concerns, including finding outside resources and providers as needed.
