Bard College at Simon’s Rock students have the opportunity in the summer between their junior and senior year to participate in the Summer Undergraduate Research Fellowship (SURF) program at the SUNY Upstate Medical University in Syracuse, NY.
The Fellowship program is intended for students with exceptional academic records and who plan to enter graduate school to work towards a career in biomedical research. SUNY Upstate has agreed to reserve one SURF opening each year for a Simon’s Rock student who meets the academic requirements. SUNY Upstate also holds one slot each year in its PhD program for a Simon’s Rock BA graduate who meets the general admissions requirements and who has exceptional academic records and recommendations from Simon’s Rock faculty.
“It’s a pretty engaging program where you get to learn the ropes of typical benchwork, meet other like-minded students contributing to cutting edge research, while also enjoying what the city of Syracuse, NY has to offer…I couldn’t ask for a more productive and educational experience!”
