Students can select a Physics or Pre-Engineering concentration.
The usual entry into the physics concentration is a year-long, calculus-based sequence, followed by the additional required courses: Introduction to Quantum Physics, Modern Physics Lab, Relativity and Cosmology, Analog and Digital Electronics, Classical Mechanics, Electricity and Magnetism, and Statistical Thermodynamics. Students preparing for graduate school can also choose from among smaller, tutorial-style classes that include Quantum Mechanics, General Relativity, Solid State Physics, Fluid Mechanics, and Biophysics.
Simon’s Rock College offers 5-year dual BA/BS degree programs in engineering with Columbia University and Dartmouth College. Engineering fields include Applied Math, Applied Physics, Biomedical Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Civil Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Financial Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, and Operations Research. Students take their basic math and science courses, along with humanities courses, in the small setting of Simon’s Rock, before taking their engineering courses at Columbia or Dartmouth.
